In 2024, we’ve made strides in making app creation and customization simpler and more efficient, introducing tools to help you develop and refine your apps with ease. If you’re looking to develop an app, our app builder offers intuitive tools and streamlined processes to bring your vision to life. If you missed their initial launch, now’s the perfect time to explore these features!
Here are some of the top new features of 2024:
Since mid-December, the new Dashboard has been available to all users, offering a streamlined and user-friendly experience. Designed to simplify navigation and app management, the updated Dashboard introduces dedicated sections for Menu, Style, Build Ordering, and Images (explained below) to make app configuration easier than ever. While most sections have been refreshed, long-time users of the previous Dashboard will find the transition seamless and intuitive. The old dashboard will be phased out in January 2025.
Build ordering has been revamped to provide a clear overview of previously built versions and status markers for App Store, Play Store, and extension connections. With the new build ordering process, there’s no need to contact support for builds after making configuration changes—simply order a build directly. Within minutes, assuming all status markers are green, your app builds will be uploaded to the respective stores, ready for you to release. The interface has also been redesigned for better clarity and ease of use.
The menu editor has been updated to be easier to use, more flexible in terms of adding different screens to different tab locations, and easier to swap out screens at will. These improvements make customizing your app’s navigation simpler and more intuitive than before.
The new Style Editor streamlines the process of customizing your app’s overall design, enabling you to adjust corner radii and color schemes with ease. You can define colors for both light and dark modes and view real-time previews of your changes on the right side of the screen.
The Images section works seamlessly with the Style Editor, allowing you to upload your app’s static graphic assets, such as app icons, logos, and other branding visuals. It provides clear information about the required formats and dimensions for each asset, along with previews of how they will appear across various screens in your app.
The Members & Groups section integrates with your app’s Firestore database for seamless user management. In the Members section, you can view a comprehensive list of all signed-up users and click on individual profiles to access detailed information, including subscription entitlements, permissions, and remote titles (if applicable). You can also send push notifications directly to specific users.
The Groups feature allows you to create user groups with customized rules, such as entitlement access for specific time periods. You can invite users to these groups via email, making it ideal for adding test users to your app or providing B2B customer access. This feature bypasses the app’s paywall, granting users access until their entitlement period expires.
Audio chapters are great for allowing users to skip to different time stamps in a piece of audio, the common use case is audiobooks, but this can also be used on podcasts for different segments and for programs with defined sections like intro, middle, and end.
You can zip multiple mp3 files and upload the zip as a single file/title and upon processing audiorista will figure out the chapter divisions. Alternatively, you can use the chapter editor on the titles detail page where you can input the timestamp denoted in seconds and the chapter name of the given chapter which could be anything you want, like chapter 1, introduction, or whatever makes sense.
While it’s impossible to make iOS and Android apps look identical, we’ve carefully refined the Android app’s design. Adjustments to tabs, icons, spacing, colors, and more have been made to align the experience as closely as possible. These changes ensure a cohesive user experience that reflects your brand’s identity across platforms.
Got long-form content that users may want to revisit? The Audio Bookmarks feature makes it easy. Perfect for audiobooks, courses, and other extended audio formats, this feature lets users create and save timestamps, allowing them to quickly jump back to specific sections anytime. Whether it’s for revisiting key moments or marking important sections, bookmarks provide added convenience and improve the overall user experience.
To help our customers gather more ratings on the App Store and Play Store, we’ve introduced a Rating Prompt feature. About 10 days after a user installs the app, a dialog box appears, giving them the option to rate the app or dismiss the prompt. This feature encourages user feedback and can improve your app’s visibility and reputation in the stores.
We’ve upgraded the app’s search functionality to deliver a richer search experience. Along with title searches, users can now view results for collections and tags. Additionally, the search screen can include filters, allowing users to refine results by titles, collections, tags, and formats—audio, video, or eBook.
The remote title screen, commonly used to display single sales items from our customers’ e-commerce platforms via integration, now features an optional search bar. This allows users to search within their purchased catalog of digital products.
With Version 1.26.0, we’ve introduced a range of new layout items and display modes. The Feed now includes a Square Mode, providing an option for those who prefer feed screens with square artwork.
For Browse Layouts, we’ve added new carousels, including a Collection Carousel with Square and Banner display modes, as well as carousels for Favorites and Collection History (more on this below). Additionally, the Title History has gained two new display modes: Banner and Tall.
Version 1.26.0 introduces a new history/progress feature to complement the existing “Title” history. The standard Title History, displayed in carousels and the history screen, tracks progress on individual titles, making it ideal for standalone content like audiobooks. In contrast, the new Collections History is designed for content consumed as a series, such as courses or music albums. With these two options, you can tailor the experience to best suit your content and keep your users engaged.
2024 has been an incredible year of growth and innovation, and we’re just getting started! These features are a reflection of our commitment to improving your experience and delivering tools that empower you to achieve more. As we are stepping into 2025, we’re excited to share that even bigger updates, enhancements, and surprises are on the horizon. Stay tuned for what’s coming next—we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on!
Here’s to another year of progress and possibilities. Thank you for being part of our journey!
